Coaching
Coaching comes in two forms at Slow Paths Wellness.
Asian Functional Medicine Coaching helps your body systems work at their best. It can involve lab testing, herbs and supplement recommendations for optimal wellness, and lifestyle recommendations.
Compassionate Self-Care Mindfulness Coaching can be related to health. For example, if during an Asian Functional Medicine Coaching session we decide together that a short Elimination Diet would be useful to determine food sensitivities as we cultivate better gut health, we could do short Compassionate Self-Care Mindfulness sessions to help you plan your strategy for your diet. We can revisit why you are doing the diet ("I want more energy to take art classes, and spend time with my children." "I want to have less pain so I can go on hikes." "I want to be as healthy as I can to reduce my risk of having heart disease like the rest of my family.") We can spend time reinforcing the idea that food should be enjoyable and healthy, and does not need to feel like a landmine of "don'ts" even if you are choosing to avoid and / or diminish some foods for a time in pursuit of a long-term health goal.
We also use Compassionate Self-Care Mindfulness Coaching to improve your overall quality of life. So many of us are chained to a to-do list, overwork, and unrealistic expectations for ourselves. Spending time connecting with yourself using mindfulness and treating yourself like a cherished friend can help you face and conquer a sense of overwhelm. It can help you be better at empathy with others, since often we are hardest on people whose faults remind us of our own. These coaching sessions focus on learning to enjoy the journey of life, to move towards what heals you and enlivens you and makes you feel fulfilled and whole. The goal is for you to discover yourself, and as your coach my job is to give you space to explore ideas and dreams you have but have not known how to pursue.
